YGB Questions

1. He was interested in evil and guilt because of his ancestor who was at the time during the Witch Salem Trials. Not only that but, the story maintains the concern of Young Goodman Brown if he is dreaming or, if its real.

2. The name actually fits well because his wife has not seen what Goodman Brown has seen. And she is being faithful about it.

3. The pink ribbons signify Happiness or joy.

4. I think his journey is irrelevant, such like brown we must take a "stroll into the woods". We must learn what is evil and what is good. Brown can not or he chooses not to deal with anything he learns.

5. I think the old man is the devil, since he was telling Goodman Brown he met his father and his grandfather. (no one could have lived that long to see Goodman grandfather, and his father. Then leading up to meeting Young Goodman Brown).

6. I think the staff represents the way the Devil lures people in the woods. But with that staff, he makes himself look casual with he staff, looking as if he is a fellow stranger wandering in the woods in the dark.  Yet again, why would a stranger just go in the woods at dark and appear out of no where?

7.  I believe so that Goodman Brown would have a better life. He would still have faith, and he would be the same person who trusted everyone.
