Over Spring Break part ll

On the first week of spring break, i went to go watch The Fate of the Furious with my friends. I wasn't really a fan of the recent movies, i only enjoyed the first two movies of the franchise.

Over the Spring Break 1

Over the spring break i didn't do much except for two days out of the spring break. For the first weekend of the Spring Break i went to go watch the movie Logan, the last movie of the wolverine  franchise with my family. And i say that the last movie was quite amusing. Had a lot of story that developed in the movie, and good connections between characters in the film. I am a very critical person on movies i watch in my spare time. i would give it an 8/10 on how the movie progressed to  good character development.

Masterpiece Academy:Magic

All of you may know what i am going to talk about my Masterpiece topic, and most of you know that it's going to concern of magic. I tried to escape that topic, and think of other things such as Aerospace or engineering for example. But, i just thought to myself "none of those topics seem intriguing to an audience". But at the same time, i couldn't get the fact away that i will be preforming in May for Magic. And I thought "why not talk about the concept of Magic, and what factors are done into making great trick/memorable ones."

Analysis: The Bullet Catch

For example, lets get into the most dangerous trick of all, The Bullet Catch. Many Magicians have put the lives on the line to catch a loaded guns bullet. David Blaine really does catch a bullet with a metal cup in his mouth, but there are some gimmicks involved in the trick. Upcoming Magicians have died during this attempt because of simple errors. The concept of the act is that two Magicians go up and show two real bullets being put into the barrel in either a revolver or a classic French M1177 pistol from the 1700's. Those pistols are real firing objects that can be used in any way. The Bullet Catch looks very complicated once seen at a show, but the most difficult tricks that are easily fooled by audiences are the most simplest trick to know. Trust me, I've had my fair share of tricks that look complex but are so simple to know. When the trick was first introduced, people were amazed how brilliant and astonishing the trick was. Simply a man did not catch a bullet with his hand, the bullet was already in his hand before the pistol was shot. The Magician shows the pistol that in fact it is real, once he goes to his table to prepare the pistol (i'm referring to the 1700's Bullet Catch with a French Pistol) he puts a cloth inside the barrel of the pistol, and puts the bullet in with a gimmick metal rod that looks like the bullet is going inside the pistol. But, on the metal rod there is a button on top of the rod to hold the bullet in place. And once he pretends to put the bullet in the barrel, he releases the button and takes the bullet and hides it in his hand, and hands the pistol to a spectator to shot him. The gun will still make a bang from the cloth because of the gun powder placed in the pistol. Once fired, the smoke comes and releases the cloth to the ground unseen, and the Magician "catches" the bullet with his hand. Very simple. The e modern version of The Bullet Catch has a similar concept, but i will not go into detail because of the respect of the trick. But the key word of the trick is "switch".

Secrets

All Magicians show tricks and get a response of  "how did you do that?" Or "Do that again." And obviously we can not tell because we want you believe it was real. That is why we do not answer that question "tell me how you do that". Back in the day, Magicians would put their tricks for sale, and that's how they make a profit. But now, since we are in an age of technology we can just look things up in an instant. As for me when i learn tricks, i am amazed on how the trick is preformed but not satisfied of how the trick works. But i still preform them, and i love the reaction people give me. Once a trick is taught, you never show anyone. They will beg and will flatter you for the secret. But soon as you give it up, you'll be nothing them.  The trick impresses no one, It's the trick you use it for, it's everything.

The Prestige

A Magicians performance consist of three parts or acts. The first part is The Pledge, the Magician shows you something ordinary; a deck of cards, a bird, or a man. He shows this object, perhaps he tells you to inspect it, to see it is indeed real and normal. But of course it probably isn't. The second act is called The Turn. The Magician takes the ordinary something, and makes it do something extraordinary. Now, your looking for the secret but you wont find it. Because of course you're not really looking, you don't really want to know. You want to be fooled, but you wouldn't clap yet. Because making something disappear isn't enough, you have to bring it back. That's why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part the part we call The Prestige.

F451 Essay Option #1

Ray Bradbury gives a realistic tone to the narrative of his book. It's almost as if it is an apocalyptic world where Montag is living. Beatty, the villain who criticizes books, Faber the mentor, and guider to a new hope to an allie, Clarisse the person who is the outsider, but does all her thinking on her own, and Mildred the lost wife who has no thought to think or do things. All those characters give a realistic tone to the book as if this were a true reality.  Clarisse is the person who represents how much a person cares and how much humans are such a great value. She gets killed off in the book not because to show how society would function, but how the values she stood for have been killed in society. As for Beatty, Ray Bradbury gives him a tone of being a powerful force. He makes some decent points about the books; literature is very contradicting, forces us the answer questions we never wanted to ask, and It will pull out feet from the rug. Beatty is not willing think and question, the books don't tell the secrets to the universe to Beatty. Beatty is kind of a paradox. He knows very well the texts of books, and recites texts to the old woman by saying "You've been locked up in here for years with a regular dammed tower of Babel. You think you can walk on water with your books. And, Beatty even recalls a text from the Greek myth of Icraus, which a common book to read. He was also a book reader once. He gives that clue once he gives his speech to Montag in part one. Bradbury gives each character his or her own point of view of society. Giving the differences of how Ray Bradbury felt about books, he obviously loves books and in his characters he illustrated showith his emotions towards those books. With the characters given, he also gives the "bad" sides of books from the character Beatty.

F451 Questions

1. That it is very cliche to say about a book. It's been over used over time.
2.Because she is the only family he has right now.He still loved her, but not the way us people think of love.
3.It symbolizes that you can tell a lot about a person, by the look of their hands. Granger's Grandfather was a hard working Sculptor. And Granger explained how busy he was. But as for Mildred, She did not do much. She wasn't much of a "working lady".
4. Because both Faber and Grangers Grandfather talk the meaning of things. Both know that they live in the present, not the past. Metaphorically
5.That time simultaneously goes by really fast, or really slow in those three seconds that occur
6.The phoenix symbolizes a how life can be renewed.
7. Montag has changed drastically with the characters presented to him. Without Captain Beatty, Clarisse, he would have never changed. Being a person who follows society and doesn't think about things, to a person who understands and thinks about what is going on in the world. He mostly developed that by Faber and Clarisse of how they would analyze certain things. And, in the ending the men realize they have encountered a new man. A person with a new state of mind.

Fahrenheit451 Comparison to Phil Collins

Since Montag is running from his dilemma of killing Beatty, and hiding books, i figure a comparison of some lyrics from a song that would relate to Montag's problem. The song i chose was Phil Collins- In the Air Tonight. In the song, Phil says "I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord"..... it reminds me of the moment when Montag was realizing what Mildred had done to Montag, telling Beatty he had books. That moment was as if Montag can feel the tension in the air from Mildred and Beatty. Along with Beatty, Beatty has had a death wish for quite some time. And it finally happened, and it the lyrics which Phil says "I've been waiting for this moment, all my life"... (well maybe not all of his life) but in Beatty's life, he's been waiting for his death for a part of his life. In addition, Phil says in his song "So you can wipe off the grin, i know where you've been, its all been a pack of lies".....The small portion of the song gives me a thought of how Montag and Beatty were with each other at Montags house. And Montag had enough of what Beatty was saying about books, so he torched him. The comparison of Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight to F451 is almost as if the song was meant to be for the book. Yet, the song is talking divorce, but in bits and parts of the song, you can find a comparison to Fahrenheit 451.
